Astronomy Program
Astronomy is an integral part of the Physics Program at Kutztown University. We offer an astronomy track within the B.S. Physics degree, and we also offer a minor in astronomy that is open to all KU students.
Our astronomy faculty is dedicated to facilitating undergraduate research and therefore a research component is integrated into almost every astronomy course. From studying the surface of Mars, using new data from ongoing exploration missions, to discovering new extrasolar planets and searching for supernova explosions using our on-campus research observatory, our students learn astronomy by participating in the scientific process.
Students have access to our on-campus observatory and planetarium for course work and research projects.
Kutztown University has been awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to support undergraduate student participation in exoplanet discovery research!
