Coal Twp., Pa., native Holly Fegley is a senior Commercial Music major at Kutztown University.

Why did you choose Kutztown University?

I chose Kutztown University because I felt extremely welcomed and at home even when nobody knew me.

What are you involved in on campus?

I participate and am acting treasurer and vice president for the KU percussion studio, multiple percussion ensembles for the campus, steel band, Kutztown Bagpipes Band, and I work with Dr. Will Rapp to teach percussion to students who attend the Reading Olivet Boys and Girls Club.

What inspired you to pursue a career in Commercial Music?

I am interested in the broad aspect that commercial music brings. Personally, I am interested in pursuing a career where I can put copyrights on music, but I also enjoy refurbishing old percussion instruments and studying the history of percussion as a whole.

What plans or goals do you have your future career?

For my future, I am planning on looking into a job offer I received in Chicago for a percussion company or attending the University of Las Vegas for a master's degree. Possibly one after the next.

What advice do you have for incoming or prospective students?

My advice is to never be afraid of opportunities! Practice that piece, talk to that famous person, get that audition! You never know who you'll meet and who will like you, remember you and offer you an opportunity of a lifetime.
