Kutztown University's Environmental Health and Safety Office under the Facilities Department Division promotes a safe and healthy environment for all members of the University community.
FIRE SAFETY
There are two main components to the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) fire safety program; the fire protection systems, including the maintenance and inspection of the campus fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, and sprinkler systems; and our fire safety/prevention programs.
Another component to our fire safety program is compliance with the Clery Act and the Campus Fire Safety and Right to Know Act.
In accordance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act (Public Law 110-315) which was enacted on August 14, 2008 institutions that maintain on-campus residential facilities are required to publish an annual fire safety report that contains information about campus fire safety practices and standards and fire-related on-campus statistics.
A copy of the Kutztown University Fire Safety Report or the Fire Log is available upon request by contacting the Work Control Center at 610-6831594 during normal business hours from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT
State and federal regulations govern the disposal of hazardous materials and wastes.
Facilities EHS manages the campus program necessary to properly dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with these regulations. If you have any questions regarding KU's hazardous waste management program, please contact the Work Control Center at x31594 and we will gladly identify a representative to assist you.
INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE SERVICES EHS and professional Industrial Hygiene consultants assist the University community in minimizing the hazards associated with lead-based paint, compliance for OSHA general industry and construction regulations, indoor air quality concerns, respiratory protection, noise, and other health safety concerns.
