CLAS Events
The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences is a community of learners, teachers, scholars, and leaders. At the heart of every community are shared experiences and celebrations that mark our connections, our values, and our achievements.
Each year, the Dean's Office provides welcoming events for faculty and staff. In addition, we host open houses to show off our strengths to prospective students, welcoming events to help students become acclimated to campus while forging interpersonal connections, and an annual reception to honor student achievements.
We look forward to spending time with you at our CLAS community events!
Return to Campus
The Dean's Office gathers the academic departments and programs all together on north campus for students to explore majors, minors, and get to know their faculty and fellow students. Students and faculty enjoy games, raffles, Herr's chips, music, ice cream, and more!
CLAS Community Picnic
Faculty and Staff are invited to join the CLAS Dean's Office on the Alumni Plaza. Develop cross-disciplinary connections, participate in the Corn Hole Tournament, and cheer for the departmental ducks in the Annual Departmental Duck Race.
Please consider donating to our CLAS scholarship fund. Through the generous support of donors, we have been able to provide partial scholarship funding for students to enable them to advance in their academic journey. Donate today!
Dean's Scholars' Reception
The Dean’s Scholars’ Reception is one of the highlights of our year where we celebrate our students and faculty. Faculty nominate students for demonstrating exceptional qualities such as noteworthy research, presenting at conferences, academic excellence, persistence and perseverance in their achievements, and extraordinary leadership in our KU community. The Dean awards the Outstanding Faculty Award to a faculty member nominated by their peers.
STEM Open House
The Science, Technology, and Math Open House is a biannual tradition in coordination with the Office of Admissions; this event welcomes prospective students and their families to the Boehm Science Center and the state-of-the-art campus laboratories and classrooms. Current students enjoy sharing their experiences with research, field work, and classroom demonstrations at KU. Faculty advisors are present to answer any questions related to their programs and fields of study.
The Amazing Academic Race
This scavenger hunt helps new students explore academic spaces on campus by highlighting some of the interesting and quirky KU-isms. Students gain valuable experience navigating campus with their new friends.
Members of the CLAS Dean's office plan college-wide events with input and help from faculty, staff, and students.
