Moody Named KU Employee of the Month for June 2023
KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Congratulations to Charles Moody, telecommunications coordinator, Information Technology, on being named Kutztown University Employee of the Month for June 2023.
Moody’s nomination from Laurette Norman, clerical assistant, University Relations and Athletics, reads:
“Although we do not work in the same department, we do work together in that I am the University Operator who requires the help of Telephone Services on almost a daily basis. When Charlie started here at KU, he replaced a well-seasoned staff member who was with KU "forever." He had big shoes to fill, but he certainly was able to step into the position and learn the ins and outs of our antiquated phone system and "conquered the beast" with the knowledge and skills he brought to the job.
Charlie has always been very responsive to all of the questions I have had dealing with keeping our department's unique phone directories up to date and accurate. Any phone call or email to him is always responded to promptly and efficiently and he always gets to the bottom of any questions I have – and I have many. During a time of important changeovers within our "phone tree" system, Charlie was even available via his personal cell phone when he was vacationing with his family. He is definitely dedicated to keeping Telephone Services running smoothly and facing any daily challenges to help the daily communications of the university working properly.
A few years ago when KU undertook the huge task of converting to the CISCO phone system, Charlie oversaw the entire process and made a huge contribution to the successful implementation of the system. He made certain to give me personal attention since the main phone line to the university comes through the phones in our office – University Relations. Charlie was very quick to respond when we determined that the headsets we were using were not fully compatible with the new CISCO system. He researched several options for me, and hand-delivered the information explaining the different models available. He continually responds to all of my questions and emails, and I can always count on him to help me.
His smooth, calming voice can be heard welcoming callers to the main university number when our operators are off duty. He also records the messages for the university's key offices so that callers can clearly understand their choices and choose the correct option to have their call answered promptly.
It has been a pleasure working with Charlie for the last 17 years, and I certainly hope he is chosen for this employee honor – he definitely deserves it.”
