Kutztown University Expands Summer 2023 Children’s Art Camps
KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University has opened registration for its second summer of offering high quality children’s summer art classes for community children entering grades 1-9. Supported by the College of Visual and Performing Arts and the KU Arts Society, nine creative art camps will be offered in KU’s well-equipped Sharadin Arts Building and are open to children from any community at an affordable cost.
Drawing from the vast network of distinguished alumni from the Department of Art Education at Kutztown University, classes are taught by certified and experienced art teachers. Current KU art students will act as assistants. Each week-long program is open to campers entering grades 1-9 and runs the weeks of June 26, July 10 and July 17. Each camp is a full week, full day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For grades 1-3, teachers Jesse Todero and Kathleen Walck will offer classes inspired by nature and magic and STEAM concepts. Children in grades 4-6 will create more in-depth projects with teachers Amanda Seanor and Annie Schnore, exploring techniques to find each camper’s own artistic style.
Aspiring artists in grades 7-9 will get a chance to work with established artist teachers. Amanda Seanor will teach dyeing, weaving, felting, embroidery and sewing projects. CJ Matz will provide engaging, hands-on drawing and painting lessons in his class titled “Thinking Outside the Box.” Well known Folk Fest ceramicist Jeff Dietrich will work with teens in his “Creative Clay Camp.”
All campers will get to explore Kutztown University’s campus when not in the art room. Registration will remain open until June 19, or until classes fill.
