Honored Berks County Poet to Narrate Musical Performance at Kutztown University
KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Berks County poet laureate, Anthony Orozco, will narrate the classic and humorous musical suite, Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns, performed by the KU Orchestra. The hour-long concert will take the stage at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 23, in Schaeffer Auditorium at Kutztown University. Orozco’s presentation will bring a fresh narration in both English and Spanish to an already lively performance.
Orozco has worked in central Pennsylvania as a journalist, poet and community organizer since graduating with a degree in journalism from the University of Cincinnati in 2012.
Kangaroos, tortoises, elephants and even fossils will make an appearance in this musical journey perfectly timed for youngsters. Under the direction of Dr. Peter Isaacson, the Kutztown University Orchestra’s concert will also include Fanfare from La Péri by Paul Dukas and Norwegian Dance #1 by Edvard Grieg.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early for old-fashioned carnival games and fun on the Schaeffer front lawn at 12:30 p.m. All tickets are $15 and can be purchased at KU Presents or by calling the KU Presents! Box Office 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, at 610-683-4092.
