Faculty Equity Advocate 

Faculty support/coordination liaison

As Equity Advocate, Dr. Emily T. Cripe will serve as a resource and navigator for STEM faculty seeking assistance with issues or circumstances that have the potential to limit professional success. Using an intersectional framework, she will work to gather resources that focus on the needs of underrepresented faculty. 

Dr. Cripe is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Communication Studies Department. Among other roles, she has served as the chair of the university’s Commission on the Status of Women, Vice President and Secretary of KU-APSCUF, and is a member of the University Promotion Committee and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Advisory board. She is also a graduate of the PASSHE Women’s Consortium Leadership Institute.

  • Commission on Human Diversity

    The Commission on Human Diversity reports directly to the Administrative Council and is established to pursue the goal of having a university community where all members honor each other's differences. It sets priorities, monitors changes and educates the community in order to create an environment in which all members will receive proper recognition, encouragement and support.

  • Commission on the Status of Minorities

    The Commission on the Status of Minorities focuses on the monitoring of the recruitment and retention of students, faculty, staff, and administrators of color at Kutztown University. The responsibilities of the CSM include making recommendations regarding new policies, as well as changes to existing Kutztown University policies, programs, and/or procedures to support the creation of a culturally and psychologically “safe” environment in which the cultural, educational, and intellectual needs of students, staff, faculty, and administrators of color can be met and their experience at Kutztown enhanced.

  • Commission on the Status of Women

    The Commission on the Status of Women addresses equity issues of concern to all women at the university. The commission will make recommendations to the Commission on Human Diversity concerning the conditions necessary for women students, faculty, staff and administrators to assert their expectations of respect, recognition and reward with special attention to minority women and the under-utilization of the talents and perspectives of women throughout the university.

  • Frederick Douglass Institute

    The FDI at KU organizes and facilitates discussions, research, conferences, forums, and exhibits centered on racial equity, social equality, and anti-racism. Specifically, FDI programming advances Black intellectual traditions through interdisciplinary scholarship and activism in disciplines including literature, philosophy, history, STEM, criminal justice, the arts, and journalism.

  • Institutional Climate Committee

    The purpose of the ICC is to heighten awareness of campus community members' perceptions and attitudes about KU; open up communication concerning perceptions and attitudes about KU; recommend university policies, procedures, and practices that promote more positive stakeholder perceptions and attitudes about KU; encourage teaching, research, and programs that enhance KU's climate of engagement, and transform KU into a more welcoming and inclusive place to live, work, and learn.

  • LGBTQ+ Resources

    The Kutztown University Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning Resource Center's mission is to create a welcoming and inclusive campus for individuals of all genders and sexualities. The Center provides LGBTQ+ resources and support, educational workshops, programs that empower and promote diversity, and a safe space that embraces individuality, authenticity and equality.
