Art Day Camp: Discover What it Means to be an Artist

This half day hands-on art camp at Kutztown University will introduce sophomore, junior and senior high school students to art as a career and raise awareness of art’s possibilities. By understanding the power of visual language artists can unlock a world of self-expression, social change, creative collaboration, and fulfilling professional careers. Come be empowered by art! The first workshop will show you how mixing egg yolk with powdered pigments creates ‘egg tempera’, a historical painting process. Each student will have the opportunity to create their own painting, in the tradition of medieval and renaissance masters. The second workshop will walk students through a hand-building clay-making experience of shaping, carving, and more. Open your minds to the third dimension and create various forms that can be functional, sculptural, or both.

Who should attend: sophomore, junior or senior high school students who have an interest in art as a career path.
