CoRe Program

The CoRe Program is a FREE overnight college-readiness program to help high school students learn about the college experience through workshops, projects, and simulations.  Students will become familiar with the resources and campus offices that will help them navigate their college careers.

Future dates will be announced soon!

During the CoRe program, you will:

  • Interact with student service offices on campus to help plan for your success as a future college student
  • Meet other high school students and current KU students
  • Learn to navigate the campus
  • Participate in fun and interactive events that are designed to help you become familiar with KU
  • Stay overnight in accommodations provided by KU
  • Try the food
  • Hang out at the Rec Center
  • What to expect and what to bring

    Supervision:

A staff representative will be on call 24 hours a day. Public Safety can also be reached at 610-683-4002 (Emergencies: 610-683-4001). All hosts have been selected by KU staff as ambassadors of the university. They have extensive knowledge of all that KU has to offer and will be able to answer most questions that the student may have. They have had training specific to this program and have completed/submitted all required clearances. Roommates of hosts have also been made aware of the program and are required to sign an agreement to ensure that your student feels welcomed.

    What to bring to campus:

    • Three days' worth of clothes

    • Toiletries (including your toothbrush!)

    • Phone charger

    • Photo identification (school ID, driver's license, passport)

    • Any prescription medications you take on a regular basis

    • Notebook and pen/pencil to take notes on your experiences

    • Backpack

Special Note: The university will not be responsible for replacing lost or damaged personal items. Please do not bring any expensive electronics, jewelry or other valuable personal items.

    Housing:

You will stay in a residence hall suite with three other program participants.

    Dining:

You will be given a meal pass that will allow you to access KU dining facilities for the duration of your experience.  If you would like to purchase coffee or a snack from one of the dining facilities on/off campus that are not included with your meal pass or something from the retail stores on campus, you can plan to bring money for these purposes.
