Part-Time Students - All winter students are considered part-time students therefore the Non-Resident Reduced Rates do not apply as they require full time enrollment. (See description of each fee below).

Winter Session - Currently we only offer distance education courses in the winter session.  Any other type of course approved may be charged at a different rate than above.

  • Distance Education - Courses approved and designed with a minimum 80% online (not just elected to do online between professor and student).  These courses assess tuition, technology fee, and instructional service.  Non-PA Residents are offered a discount for distance education courses to meet 102% of the in-state rate for part time enrollment.

Dropping Classes / Withdrawing from Classes If aid is utilized as a form of payment and you withdraw completely, a calculation is required to see if you can retain any of the aid.  Refunds that may have been issued, may be due back to KU.  The Add-Drop period is typically the first 2 days of the session.  Any withdrawal after that may reduce charges and may not depending on the remaining enrollment for the wintr.  We encourage you to look at the withdrawal page and call our office with any questions.

When are my Winter Charges Due?

The chart below shows when your payment is due.  Classes will be dropped shortly after the due date, do not delay.  To ensure your classes are safe, be sure your payment posts on MyKU before or ON the due date, that your payment plan is set up and in good standing on or before the due date, or that any pending aid is actually showing as pending aid in MyKU (if aid is not showing as pending we are not considering it as payment - speak to Financial Aid).  If classes are dropped, you will be required to prepay in order to register again for classes based on availability at that time.

Is there financial aid for Winter Courses?

Yes and No.  Winter session is not an aid term and it is linked to Fall semester.  This means that you can use any unused Fall 2023 aid towards the Winter session costs.  You cannot use anticipated Spring 2023 aid though.  If you were not eligible for aid in the fall, then you are not eligible for aid in the winter.  You can take an additional Parent PLUS loan for these costs just the same you can take an additional alternative loan for these costs.  We encourage each student speak to Financial Aid Services directly regarding their personal aid options as each students case is unique.  Aid can take a while to come in, do not delay any loan applications.  You can reach Financial Aid Services at 610-683-4077.
