Kutztown University Planetarium
We’ve transformed our planetarium with a new advanced multiple-projector system, offering sharper and more vibrant visuals than ever before! --- The Kutztown University Planetarium is located on the ground floor of the Grim Science Building and is labeled Room 100. The planetarium is used for introductory astronomy projects and for the university's Astronomy Outreach Program. The KU Planetarium features a full-dome digital projection system with surround sound and a full-color laser projection system.
Public shows
The planetarium is open in March and April for public presentations of our newest show! Journey through the cosmos in Legends of the Starry Realm, where ancient myths and celestial wonders collide. From the mighty gods and fearsome beasts of the night sky to the real astronomical phenomena that inspired them, this immersive experience blends thrilling storytelling with stunning visuals. Please note that Legends of the Starry Realm is designed for a general audience, but some scenes may be intense or frightening for certain viewers, especially young children.
The planetarium is also hosting LASER Light Shows, which are presented by the Physics Club (KU's Chapter of the Society of Physics Students).
The Ursa Minor Report
The Ursa Minor Report is the newsletter of the KU Planetarium and the C. R. Chambliss Astronomical Observatory at KU.
The current issue is available here: Volume 7 Issue 1 (Spring 2025)
Private Group Planetarium Shows
In addition to Public Planetarium Shows and Special Events, local school groups and scouting troops frequently take field trips to the KU Planetarium.
Please use this form to request a special planetarium show for your group (schools, scouting troops, and other community groups).
All shows are followed by a question & answer period with KU's astrophysicist and planetarium director Dr. Phill Reed.
