Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 8,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The university is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas of Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The Department of Art & Design invites applications for full and/or part-time temporary positions in Spring 2025 in Digital Illustration.
Requirements: MA or MFA in Illustration, or related design field required. 1-year college-level teaching experience or equivalent professional experience in the illustration and/or design field is required. Candidate must be proficient with the industry-standard software Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and able to produce high-quality illustrations plus have an exceptional understanding of design principles. Experience with 2D animation is a plus. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth and professional development, and service.
Class responsibilities: The candidate will teach Digital Illustration (vector and pixel-based illustration) specifically using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Courses are taught face-to-face. If the course format were to change to hybrid or online, faculty will be required to successfully complete the Teaching Online Certification Course offered through Kutztown University.
A successful interview and demonstration of relevant ability are required.
