Welcome to the Department of Criminal Justice at Kutztown University! Our department offers a variety of programs designed to prepare students for careers in law enforcement, legal professions, corrections, juvenile justice, and forensics. To prepare students for these careers, Kutztown University offers the resources of a large university combined with the student to teacher ratio of a small college. Almost all of our classes are taught by our full-time faculty, many of whom have worked in the field, and all are experts in their field. The department also regularly brings in practitioners and outside researchers for a variety of events. To see what going this semester, follow the link below.
The Department of Criminal Justice extends the goals of Kutztown University by providing students with an education in all aspects of the criminal justice system. Upon completion of the degree, students will be prepared for a variety of careers related to criminal justice. All faculty members maintain an active research agenda, and strive to create a classroom curriculum grounded in criminological theory and research. Upon completion of a degree in Criminal Justice, students will be prepared to implement evidence-based practices in the police, courts, and correctional agencies, and/or pursue graduate degrees in social science fields.
