Commencement Faculty

All faculty are invited to join in the celebration of students' achievements by participating in the commencement ceremony this December. A ceremony for Graduates and Undergraduates will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will take place in the O'Pake Fieldhouse.

  • Academic Attire

    Academic attire is required for all personnel participating in the commencement program. In keeping with KU pride, the university will provide maroon rental attire to all personnel in need of regalia.

    Rented attire may be picked up at the Campus Store, McFarland Student Union, starting Monday, December 9 through Thursday, December 12 between the hours of 8 am - 4 pm.

    Rented regalia must be returned immediately following the graduation ceremony to a KUSSI representative in the faculty robing area.

  • Robing Area

    Faculty participating in commencement are to report to the robing area by 9.am. Saturday morning.

    The robing area will be located in Rooms 106 and 107 in Keystone Hall.

  • Line of March

    Faculty and staff will line up in the hallway promptly at 9:45 a.m. Immediately prior to the formal start of the procession, faculty will form two lines directly inside the arena through which candidates will process. 

    The line of march will proceed as follows:

    • Degree candidates will lead the procession followed by faculty and platform participants
    • The procession will enter the O’Pake Fieldhouse. Usher Marshals will direct the faculty to assigned seats.

    When the ceremony is over, participants will exit the O’Pake Fieldhouse in the following order:

    1. Platform Guests
    2. Faculty
    3. Degree Recipients
