Middle States 2025 Self-Study Overview
February 2024
To the Kutztown University Community:
We are honored to serve as the co-chairs of the Middle States re-accreditation process for Kutztown University. Since our appointment by President Hawkinson in Spring 2023, we have been working to organize the teams that will lead the effort on behalf of the university community.
A five-person steering committee was created and includes three members in addition to the two of us: Mike Demetor, Krista Prock, and Tammy Wert. Eight working groups were created--one for each of the seven Middle States Standards for Accreditation, as well as a group dedicated to the evidence inventory. On this website, you can find the membership of each of the working groups. We are grateful for the service and leadership these teams are providing.
Early in Fall 2023, the steering committee, along with other members of the campus community, participated in several weeks of webinar training sessions developed by Middle States. During this Self-Study Institute, our professional learning revolved around the new standards, the data expectations, the timeline, and the importance of engaging in meaningful reflection to facilitate continuous institutional improvement.
This website is one of the ways we will communicate with the Kutztown University community about our progress throughout the coming months. This site includes our timeline and several important resources, including the link to the 14th-edition of the Middle States Accreditation Standards. Steering committee members and working group co-chairs will continue to provide timely updates on the process at public meetings, such as University Senate, the Strategic Planning and Resource Committee, ChairNet, the Student Government Board, and the Council of Trustees. Additionally, any KU community member can share feedback with the steering committee. We welcome your comments and questions.
Sincerely,
Karen Rauch and Gregory Shelley, Middle States 2025 Co-Chairs
