Middle States 2025 Self-Study Overview
January 21, 2025
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the Spring 2025 semester! The next 10 months will be an exciting time as our Middle States reaccreditation process enters its final phases. By late winter, we will begin sharing the draft of Kutztown University’s Self-Study, with various opportunities for all members of the broad university community to read the draft report, discuss the findings, and provide feedback on the content and recommendations.
In May or June, our campus will host the chair of the Middle States Peer Evaluation Team. During that visit, faculty, staff, students, and members of the Council of Trustees will meet with our chair, who will provide guidance for the final stage of the process: the full team visit, to be held in October or November 2025.
Middle States accreditation encompasses the entire institution, not just Academic Affairs, and entails an inclusive, broad-based effort to prepare for the visit, including deep reflection on our mission, goals, and commitment to our students and the surrounding community. We are grateful for our Working Groups who have shown dedication to their tasks, including research, data collection, and drafting of the respective chapters. Greatly appreciated, too, is the time that many staff and faculty dedicated to meeting with our Working Groups to aid in the gathering of evidence for the Self-Study.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us through this convenient link to the Steering Committee’s email account.
Sincerely,
Karen Rauch and Gregory Shelley, Middle States 2025 Co-Chairs
