Student Resources
connect with your Success Navigator or Academic advisor
A student can schedule an appointment with their Success Navigator or Academic Advisor through Starfish in two ways.
1. Your Success Navigator or Academic Advisor may have shared their appointment scheduling link with you through email. It may also be in their email signature.
2. You can schedule with your navigator or advisor from the Starfish Dashboard too. (See image for example.)
Success Navigator, Academic Advisor and Orientation Faculty Advisor
- Incoming spring 2025 students will have an assigned Success Navigator. Your Success Navigator will be assigned to you until you graduate. They will help connect you to resources, work through minor academic challenges, and send you important reminders and information. You can see who your Success Navigator is in NewMyKU and also in Starfish.
- Current students have an academic advisor, so they will not be assigned a navigator.
- If you are a new student, you will be assigned an academic advisor (a faculty member in your major) at the start of the semester. For now, if you are a freshman, you have a Winter Orientation Faculty Advisor (a faculty member from your college) who can assist you with any major and discipline-related questions. You can schedule meetings with them through Starfish.
If you are unable to schedule an appointment with your Success Navigator, Orientation Faculty Advisor or Academic Advisor in Starfish, please email starfish@kutztown.edu.

Q&A About Starfish
-
Why are we using Starfish?
We want you to succeed at KU! Starfish makes connecting with you easier and helps provide you with resources to support your success.
-
What should I do if I get a flag?
Read the flag notification thoroughly and take action early. Remember that a flag does not mean you are in trouble- It is an early warning alert to you so that you can resolve any future issues while there is still time to do so. A meeting or email with your instructor may be needed to help get you back on track. If you need additional assistance you can use the I NEED HELP function in Starfish.
-
What should I do if I get a kudo?
Congratulate yourself and celebrate! Keep up the good work.
-
Who can see my flags and kudos?
Your Student Success Network can view academic-related items. Your Success Network is comprised of your instructors, advisors, and other faculty and staff that you might have a connection to such as Athletics Coaches. These individuals are visible on your Dashboard upon logging into Starfish. Remember that Starfish is FERPA-compliant and your data is secure.
