Director, Public Relations Program/The Agency

Amy O’Brien is director of the public relations program and director of The Agency at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Dr. O’Brien specializes in public relations, branding, visual communication, storytelling, and reputation management.

With more than 25 years’ experience in teaching and public relations, Dr. O’Brien’s course offerings include Writing for Public Relations, Newsletter Writing and Design, Storytelling for Public Relations and Corporate Communications.

As director of The Agency at Kutztown University, O’Brien ensures clients’ needs are met while also encouraging her students to network and engage with clients and produce portfolio-worthy writing samples.

She is a member of the PRSA and adviser to Kutztown’s campus chapter of PRSSA.

The 2024-2025 Agency

The Agency at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania is a two-semester capstone course designed to provide real-life public relations experience for undergraduate public relations majors. As members of the Agency staff, students build and execute actual public relations programming for local clients. They practice networking, build portfolios, and interact directly with clients as they develop their professional skills. This year’s Agency is staffed by 7 seniors from the PR program.

Megan Hughes

Megan Hughes (she/her)

Megan is a public relations major and professional writing minor with a passion for strategic communication and the arts.  

Through internships with the Reading Public Museum and ArtsQuest, Megan has gained hands-on experience in entertainment PR, strengthening her skills in social media management, media relations, event planning, and pitch writing.  

She serves as president of KU’s Public Relations Student Society of America and treasurer of Shoofly Literary Magazine. Megan also volunteers with Cops ‘n’ Kids of the Lehigh Valley, where she developed her love of nonprofit work, hosting story times for children.  

In her free time, she enjoys attending concerts, visiting roadside attractions, and updating her friends on all things pop culture. 

 

Lismeylin Feliz

Lismeylin Feliz (she/her)

Lismeylin is a multifaceted and adaptable communicator.  

As an honors student pursuing dual majors in public relations and Spanish, and a minor in women, gender, & sexuality studies, she gains deeper knowledge of the cultural values, attitudes, and belief systems driving consumer behavior. Her honors research focuses on corporate social responsibility and fast fashion.  

With an internship as a strategic communications assistant at the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies, Lismeylin gained experience creating promotional social media content for the center’s climate change and cybersecurity courses. In addition, Lismeylin manages the social media platforms for the Office of Military and Veterans Services at Kutztown University, which serves active members of the armed forces, as well as veterans, and their dependents.  

As a sergeant in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Lismeylin serves as an aviation operations specialist. Her experience in the guard has instilled in her discipline, a sense of purpose, and collaboration. She uses these skills in leadership positions for the KU’s Public Relations Student Society of America and Student Veterans of America. 

 

Madeline Alleborn

Madeline Alleborn (she/her)

Madeline (she/her) is ready to bring fresh ideas and a creative approach to any project.  

As an artist and writer, she is always using her outside of the box thinking to bring an idea to life. As a senior public relations major, Madeline has dedicated herself to learning the ins and outs of PR and refining the skills that will let her shine in her future career.  

During her internship with Wes Labs AI, Madeline gained first-hand experience by coming up with potential campaign and event ideas as well as promoting the company newsletter on X (Twitter) by coming up with witty captions that relate to the content of the newsletter.  

After graduation, Madeline wants to work in advertising and develop ideas and campaigns that promote a company, brand, or product in an unforgettable way. Her ultimate career goal is to work on a Super Bowl commercial even more memorable than the Tubi ad of 2023.  

In her free time, Madeline likes to paint, experimenting with different styles and genres, as well as reading and writing. 

 

Kenny Truhan

Kenny Truhan (he/him)

Kenny is a senior at Kutztown University, majoring in public relations with a minor in communication studies. He strives to build and maintain relationships with others while improving his interpersonal communication skills. 

His internship at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit consisted of assisting in designing flyers, developing engaging social media posts, and creating graphics for events within the organization. 

He is involved with his on-campus fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, where he held positions on the executive board as member-educator and warden. Through these positions, he gained networking and relationship-building skills while implementing conflict-resolution strategies and enhancing teamwork. He also ran their social media pages for a period of time. 

In his free time, he likes to play the guitar and spend time outdoors. 

 

Spencer Romani

Spencer Romani (she/her)

Spencer has a passion for fundraising.  

She loves connecting with others and building personal connections with people. She thrives on the energy of engaging conversations and sees each interaction as an opportunity to inspire and motivate others which helps her succeed as a leader. Her internships with the non-profit Kutztown University Foundation and ArtsQuest have given her the skills to engage with others, write press releases, and create relationships with alumni. 

Spencer has honed her skills in community engagement by participating in several fundraising initiatives. She enjoys attending events to build rapport with alumni and gain insights from their experiences while strengthening her network. 

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Spencer currently serves as president of Delta Zeta sorority. This role has given her experience in event planning, public speaking, and executive board communication. 

She enjoys walking, writing, and going to the beach in her free time. 

 

Grace Levy

Grace Levy (she/her)

Grace is a passionate storyteller who brings concepts to life with clear communication on every project.  

Taking pride in her diverse academic background, Grace is pursuing dual degrees in public relations and communications, along with minors in professional writing and women, gender, and sexuality studies. Her PR interests include mass, political, and crisis communications.  

Previously, Grace interned for the KU Small Business Development Center, where she developed targeted social media strategy for clients. She coordinated events, wrote press releases, and initiated media outreach for the SBDC.  

Outside the classroom, Grace is vice president of Communication Club and hosts a radio show on KUR.  

In her free time, she can be found knitting, reading, or hiking with her friends. 

 

Kyleigh Anarumo

Kyleigh Anarumo (she/her)

Kyleigh is a senior at Kutztown University with a passion for hands-on client engagement.  

Majoring in public relations, Kyleigh is a motivated member of The Agency. She works closely with client-based needs, captures photography, and builds a good rapport with clients. She oversees the RODE microphones to ensure optimal sound quality during an event, making adjustments to capture every word clearly.  

She serves as the secretary for Hall Council in Schuylkill Hall. In this role, Kyleigh actively engages in community initiatives, advocates for the LGBTQ+ community, and records meeting notes. 

In her free time, she likes to relax with a good movie on Netflix.
