Graduation
Graduation Steps for Master's Programs
In an attempt to make graduation steps clearer, the Secondary Education Department has created the following guidelines to help you with the process:
-
Step 1: Consult with Your Advisor
If you are planning to complete your degree this semester, please be in contact with your advisor to discuss final coursework.
-
Step 2: Transfer all Credits
If you have studied at another institution and will be using graduate credits earned at that institution, make sure to transfer those credits officially to the university.
-
Step 3: Apply for Candidacy on MyKU
You cannot graduate without filling out this online form.
Follow the instructions provided by the Registrar's Office to apply for candidacy status on MyKU. It is a tool for you to plan your degree completion process.

Step 6: Submit your Portfolio
Portfolios are created in Google Sites, submitted electronically, and will be evaluated by members of Secondary Education graduate faculty. Please submit your finished portfolio to D2L under Secondary Education Graduate Student Portfolios. Portfolios must be submitted two weeks before the end of the semester. Information on creating a portfolio in Google Sites can be accessed here.
* Note: Masters in Secondary Education Teaching with Initial Certification students complete a separate portfolio.
