Strengthening Institutions Program
Through federal funding from the Department of Education, Kutztown University will increase equitable access to high-impact practices to promote engagement and retention for all students, including those who are underrepresented minorities (URM), low-income, and first-generation. KU will also provide comprehensive support systems to assure academic success, student well-being, a sense of belonging, and career preparedness, contributing to increased retention and graduation rates. The WHO:

- Historically underrepresented minority, BILPOC (Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Persons of Color)
- Pell eligible
- First-generation
- Neurodiverse
- Academically at-risk
- Faculty and staff professional development
- Entire KU community
The WHAT:
Increasing Retention and Performance through Deliberate Design of High-Impact Practices and Targeted Student Support Services
- Increase academic engagement and success
- Close equity gaps
$2.2M total over 5 years
The When:
FIVE YEARS (October 1, 2023, through September 28, 2028)
Not everything we do needs to be a HIP, but to be worth it, the HIP must be "done well".
