Chief's Message
Chief of Police
David Drezek
Welcome, and thank you for visiting the Kutztown University Public Safety & Police Services website. On behalf of the dedicated and committed officers of KUPD, I would like to thank you for taking the time to learn about our organization. I am honored to have the privilege of serving the University community and, as the police chief, I invite you to interact with our officers and familiarize yourself with the various programs and services we provide.
Our department police officers receive their certification and training from the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officer Education & Training Commission (MPOETC). Kutztown University also provides security officers and civilian employees who work in partnership with our entire community to prevent crime, solve problems, and improve the quality of life on campus. Our police officers and security officers conduct bicycle, foot, and vehicle patrols on campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the year. We strive to become a leader in innovative public safety ideas and strategies. Our team of professionals is dedicated to helping create and maintain a strong, inclusive sense of pride and belonging in our Kutztown University community.
As one of Pennsylvania’s premier universities, our highest priority is to ensure the safety of students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors, and to support the university’s mission. It is both an honor and a privilege to be selected as the Chief of Police at Kutztown University. I look forward to continuing to build a culture of collaboration and inclusion while leading our department's efforts. I encourage you to browse our website for information about our wonderful University. Our Annual Fire and Security Reports have valuable information and excellent resource listings, so please take the time to read them.
We look forward to serving you. It is “Good to be Golden.”
Respectfully,
David Drezek
Chief of Police
