Sport Management Program Awarded Reaccreditation
With joy, the Department of Sport Management announces its achievement of a seven-year reaffirmation of accreditation from the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). Accreditation by COSMA is a stellar achievement and a statement of the program’s continuing commitment to quality and excellence in sport management education based on agreed-upon accreditation standards. KU’s Sport Management program was the first in Eastern Pennsylvania to be granted accreditation by COSMA in 2015. The Department of Sport Management would like to extend our appreciation to the students, alumni, administration, and support staff for all the support provided to help lead the process to success. KU SPORT MANAGEMENT STUDENTS WIN SECOND PLACE
KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY SPORT MANAGEMENT STUDENTS Cole Single, Connor Fahie, Logan Kemp, and Zachary Miller, won SECOND PLACE on Friday, April 23, 2021. They competed in this year's Pennsylvania Sports Business Conference Case Competition. These students successfully showcased their skill sets and knowledge obtained in their core sport management curricula and won second place. Congratulations !

Monumental sport sales workshop
On Friday, January 17, 2020, five Sport Management and Leadership Studies students were given the opportunity to attend the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Sport Sales Workshop.
COSMA Hall of Fame Recipient
Congratulations to Dr. Frederick Garman, Professor Emeritus of Sport Management, on being inducted into the 2020 Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) Hall of Fame. At this year's COSMA conference held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Garman was the recipient of the Legacy Award, nominated by Dr. Soojin Kim and Dr. Yongjae Kim, and was selected by COSMA board members for his "Significant Contribution in the Sport Management Field".
COB Research Workshop
Prof. Elizabeth Rogol presented a workshop titled, “Comparison of Tenured versus Tenure-Track Perceptions of Chairperson Social Power."
Reading royals marketing presentation
On Nov. 24, sport management students (presenters: Adam Kline, Cole Single, Logan Kemp, Mark Harron and Nathan Woods) from Dr. Yongjae Kim and Dr. Soojin Kim’s sport marketing classes were invited to present their marketing ideas to the Reading Royals’ staff including the general manager and marketing directors. The KU Sport Business Institute members were also in attendance.
Sport Management students at the Philadelphia 76ers!
Professor Kerri Cebula and her Fundamentals of Sport Law classes traveled to the Wells Fargo Center on November 12, 2019 for the game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Before the game, they met with members of the front office staff for the Sixers, including KU alum Deven Messner (SM ’19) and had their picture taken with the Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy. Afterwards, the students attended the game to work on their final class projects.

Andrew Brandt, the Executive Director of the Moorad Center for the Study of Sports Law at Villanova Law School, and a former NFL team executive spoke to KU students about his career and how to break into the sports industry on October 29, 2019.

COACHING EDUCATION PROGRAM RE-ACCREDITED
The Department of Sport Management and Leadership Studies has successfully re-accredited the Coaching Education Program under the USCCE’s National Committee for Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE). The coaching and athletic administration minor was re-accredited at Level 3 which it has maintained since the original accreditation in 2006. It is one of only 12 higher education institutions to accredit a Coaching Education Program within the United States.

Chambliss Award, April 5, 2019
Anthony Lee, from Willow Grove, Pa., is a Sport Management Major graduating in May 2019. He was awarded the Chambliss Academic Achievement Award Silver Medal in the category of noteworthy achievements in athletics. Lee is the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the Year for 2019. He is a two-time all-region basketball player and four-time All-PSAC selection. He graduates with 2,292 career points, second in school history and fourth in PSAC history. He is also the school-record holder for points in a game, points in a season, scoring average for a season, three-pointers made in a game, season and career, as well as three-point percentage in a season and career, and free-throw percentage in a season.
Anthony Lee, Dr. Carlson R. Chambliss
He is a two-year team captain, a seven-time PSAC Athlete of the Week and is a member of KU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He finished his basketball career scoring in double-figures in 59 straight games. Lee plans to play professional basketball before pursuing a collegiate coaching career.

Our students attend the Pennsylvania Sport Business Conference in Indiana, PA to compete in the case competition and present their research. This year the competition was excellent and our students represented the College of Business phenomenally well!
