The Department of Music is open to serve the needs of our current and prospective students, faculty, staff, parents, community members, and others.

Kutztown University's Department of Music offers outstanding education for aspiring musicians while serving as a primary cultural resource for the region. With an emphasis on active learning, the comprehensive music curriculum gives students extensive experience in their chosen field of study. Our outstanding music faculty mentors and fosters each individual student's development and guides them to professional success. Join us for the College of Visual and Performing (VPA) Open House! Learn about programs of study, meet faculty, visit classes, and tour state-of-the-art facilities.  If you can't make it to the VPA Open House, see if you can attend one of the other open house dates offered by the Office of Admissions.

Students and families interested in learning more about the Department of Music are always welcome and encouraged to visit the beautiful Kutztown University campus. Campus visits for musicians are customized, and they can be arranged by contacting the Department of Music or an individual faculty member.

Internship Opportunities

Internships are a key ingredient to success, allowing students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world applications. It defines career interests and allows students to get their foot in the door for a first full-time, permanent employment.

In addition to internships, music students may work as student assistants in the music office, tutoring center, KUPresents, Schaeffer Auditorium, piano maintenance, recording engineer, ensemble library, or as assistants to ensemble conductors. Visit the music office for more information.
