Student Success
KU Title III will support retention for academically at-risk students through new Student Success programs with the following:
- Hiring of Student Success and Academic Recovery Case Manager (Samantha LaFlame) to provide coaching, facilitate connections to academic and non-academic assistance, and manage the KU Reboot and KU Succeed academic recovery programs.
- Fund faculty salary for two to three Reboot summer courses designed to offer first-year students the opportunity to meet the 2.0 GPA or 24 credits for Financial Aid requirements.
- Expanded integration of the Starfish student support platform, including the addition of Starfish Management Technician (Nancy Brynildsen).
- Fund the implementation of 24/7 online Tutor.com services for just-in-time help for nontraditional students or students who need academic coaching outside of traditional hours offered by the Tutoring Services Office.
Grant Goals for Student Success:
The aims of implementing these additional resources are to:
- Increase retention and 5-year graduation rates for all students, specifically underrepresented minority, low-income, and first-generation
- Decrease DFW rates, especially in FYS courses
- Increase the annual # of hours students access online, on-demand tutoring
- Increase % of relevant faculty and staff using Starfish
