Northeast Regional Honors Conference 2023 - Pittsburg, PA.

Honors Students Have Attended:

PASSHE Honors Student Development Conference

Every Spring semester the director of the Honors Program takes students to the PA State System of Higher Education Honors Student Development Conference in Harrisburg. At this conference, students attend workshops and panel discussions dealing with Honor's accomplishments and issues. It is also a great opportunity to meet and interact with Honors students from our sister schools.

Northeast Regional Honors Conference

This past spring (2023), 16 students in the KU Honors Program attended the Northeast Regional Honors Conference in Pittsburgh, PA. The theme of the conference was Building Resilience from Tragedy: Understanding Hate, Violence, Loss, and Reconciliation. 14 students presented original research or creative projects.

In addition to exploring Pittsburgh with Honors students from all over, our students took in the play Native Gardens at the City Theater and after the show they were able to dialogue with an Artistic Director of the theater to discuss Zacarias's "brilliant comedy that exposes well-intentioned neighbors' notions on race, class, morality, and privilege." Overall, the conference proved how important it is to share your work with the world. We are already planning our next conference trip to showcase our outstanding KU students and their amazing research and artwork.

Last year (Spring 2022), 14 Honors students attended the Northeast Regional Honors Conference in Philadelphia, PA. Out of the students who attended, six presented at this regional honors conference which included public and private institutions within and beyond the United States.

"The NRHC encompasses Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Quebec, Ontario, and the Maritime Provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island."
