Learning Remotely

Students and faculty can prepare for the possibility of disruptions to class and campus operations by becoming familiar with the technology tools that make it possible to learn when you can’t get to campus.

For more information about your specific departmental needs, contact IT Help Center @ 610-683-1511 or helpcenter@kutztown.edu.

Health and Well-being

Many students might face a prolonged period of isolation while learning remotely. Help can be found at the KU Counseling and Psychological Services site

The National Eye Institute (NEI) recommended the 20-20-20 rule for people who spend a lot of time working on computers: Every 20 minutes look 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Find more information on the NEI Eye Health page.

In addition, the following National Institutes of Health site provides a helpful wellness toolkit.

Students with Disabilities

The Disability Services Office (DSO) works in collaboration with Kutztown University faculty and staff to provide resources, support, and accommodations to ensure that all aspects of student life are accessible and inclusive of persons with disabilities. DSO staff work with students on an individual basis to determine reasonable accommodations to facilitate equitable access to learning and student life. For more information, please visit the Disability Services Office site.

Cyber Security for Students

As part of the KU’s security strategy, 2-Step Authentication (2SA) is required for all students when accessing Office 365, including Outlook email. See our IT Solutions Center article for more information.

Please visit the KU Cyber Security page for more information about keeping your data safe while learning from home.

Store Your Files Online to Easily Access Them Remotely

Using Office365 and OneDrive you can keep your files in the cloud so that you can access them from remote locations with an internet connection. Visit the IT Solutions Center for more information.

Software for Home Use

KU has software licenses that are available for free or at a minimal cost simply by visiting our Downloads page. When prompted, please sign in using your KU Email Address and Password.

Software such as Windows 10 are available at a minimal cost in the KU Campus Store. These licenses are only available while attending or working at Kutztown University. Once a student leaves KU the licenses will no longer be valid.

For Adobe products and Microsoft Office, please contact the IT Help Center at 610-683-1511 or email helpcenter@kutztown.edu.
