KU Military and Veterans Services honors KU alumnus veterans with its Spirit Award. The Spirit Award is presented to a KU alumnus who honorably served in the U.S. Armed Forces and who continues to serve the military or veteran community by demonstrating a spirit of service that goes above and beyond normal duties.
The recipient is presented their award by KU's president during the university's annual military appreciation football game. The 2023 game is scheduled on Veterans Day, 11/11/23.
