KU Summer Art Camp 2025
2025 Summer Art Camps at KU!
Join us for a summer filled with creative exploration, art making, and adventure. Each week-long program is open to campers entering grades 1-9. Each camp is a full day, 9 am-4 pm. Campers are encouraged to wear clothing they can get dirty, bring along a water bottle, a packed lunch and snacks, and plenty of sunscreen for outdoor exploring! We'll break up the day with lots of outdoor time playing games and exploring the buildings and grounds of KU. All classes are taught by certified art teachers and KU art student assistants.
2025 Art Camp Schedule
We will be adding 3 more classes due to popular demand! (space for 45 more campers!). We will also be separating the classes into smaller age groups to make more appropriate lessons for skill levels. Age groups are determined by the grade they are ENTERING in fall of 2025.

Week One - June 23rd-27th
Join us for an underwater art adventure! We’ll do a deep dive into creating art inspired by fish, sharks, mermaids, ships, and any else you find in the ocean!
Card games, board games, video games and more will inspire our week of creating! Through painting, drawing, collage, and clay – come join in the fun and play!
In this class we’ll focus on getting skills in different mediums like printmaking, painting, and sculpture. We’ll spend time in KU’s specialized studios getting inspired and learning more in depth about art techniques.
A modern twist on old-fashioned crafting. We’ll dabble in yarn and fabric crafts, decoupage, needlework, home decor and dried flower projects, anything your grandma (or imagined grandma!) might make!
Week Two - July 7th - 11th
Do you love drawing and learning about animals? Animals and their habitats from around the world will inspire our creations while we explore a variety of ways to paint, draw, collage, and more!
Come with us on a trip around the world! Every day we will focus on an artist & art from a different country. We’ll be working in paint, cardboard, yarn, and other materials!
Design, build, and sculpt unique pottery pieces in vibrant colors and whimsical patterns inspired by pop artists like Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, and Claes Oldenburg. Projects include tile design, hollow form sculpture, footed vessels, and more!
Experiment in processes like 3D collage, paper mâché, sculpture, weaving on the loom, sculptural stuffies, cardboard structures, and wire formations!
July 14th - 18th
Campers will have a chance to experiment with creative tools like paints, pastels markers, and clay, discovering new ways to express their ideas. This camp is designed to inspire creativity and let young artist imaginations run wild!
We will explore old fashioned animation toys and create their own moving art. Campers will create a zoetrope, flip book and even a stop motion animation!
Each day will focus on a different medium type, from working with drawing materials, painting, fabrics and dye, you won't know what you will get into or make!
We will experiment with a variety of hand building techniques including basic pinch pots, slab building, and coiled pottery. You will also have the opportunity to to make pottery on the potter's wheel!
