Nondo Named Associate Dean of KU College of Business

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University has named Dr. Chali Nondo as associate dean of the College of Business. Chali comes to KU from Jackson State University, Jackson, Miss., and will begin at KU Monday, July 1.

Nondo has served as department chair and associate professor of Economics at JSU since 2022. He oversaw the daily operations of the Department of Business Administration and offered guidance and leadership to both undergraduate and graduate students. Before his tenure at JSU, Nondo spent nearly eight years at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, Massachusetts, where he was not only a professor of Economics, but also took on the roles of department chair for the Department of Business Administration and Economics and Accreditation Coordinator. In these capacities, he played a crucial role in guiding the department through the accreditation process with the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

Nondo's research focuses on economic development, productivity analysis, environmental and energy economics and applied econometrics. His research has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Energy Economics, Journal of Applied Economics, African Journal of Economic and Sustainable Development and the Southwestern Economic Review, among others. He has also contributed several book chapters, including the collective volume "Econometric Methods for Analyzing Development," and is the lead author of the book titled "Environmental Regulations and Economic Growth."

Nondo has won major research grants from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Mellon Foundation and the Spencer Education Foundation. He has experience managing all administrative requirements of the grants, including financial management, budgeting, procurement, contract set-up, compliance, grant reporting and deliverable tracking.

Nondo earned his Ph.D. in natural resource economics from West Virginia University, focusing on economic development and environmental economics.
