Kutztown University Radio Receives Six Nominations for 2024-25 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Awards
KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University Radio (KUR) received nominations in six categories for the 85th Annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Awards, to be awarded at the annual conference in March in New York City. This special event presents awards to colleges and universities to recognize exceptional programming and student radio stations on a national level.
The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Conference receives submissions from all over the world and has more than 80 different categories of awards. The categories KUR was nominated for include:
- Best Specialty Music Show (Revolution: A Tribute to Liam Payne. Abby Regensburger).
- Best Sports Play-By-Play (KU Women’s Basketball. Tommy Scuderi and Josh Tuite).
- Best Sports Pre and Post-Game Show (KU vs. BU Football. Josh Tuite, Mitchell Smedley, and Tommy Scuderi).
- Best Use of Video in the Radio (A Night in the Life of KUR Host. Devon Koch).
- Best Business Director (KUR Student Treasurer Devon Koch).
- Best On-Air Pledge Drive (1866 Giving Challenge 1866-minute broadcast. Mitchell Smedley, Abby Regensburger, Naa Anorkor Nikoi, Devon Koch, Joshua Tuite, Jennifer Nevin, Nathan Brottman, Tommy Scuderi, Tyler Hatten, Sydney Waddell, Alex Schwartz, Jacob Regensburger and Brendan Torres).
This the fourth consecutive year that KUR has received nominations. For the second year, KUR has been nominated for the Best On-Air Pledge Drive category, winning last year.
KUR offers an array of different types of programming. During the daytime, listeners are likely to hear a laid-back vibe of smooth pop, R&B and jazz vocals, and light alternative. Student, faculty and KU's specialty shows are featured during the afternoons and evenings that encompass a wide variety of styles from rock to rap to blues to talk programming.
