Testimonials
"When coming to college, I looked at Kutztown for its art education program, but in order to attend, I would need to live on campus. With my anxiety and other disabilities, I knew I couldn't live in a traditional shared dorm room. I reached out to the Disability Services Office to start working on accommodation to get my own room. The Disability Services Office worked with me and answered any questions I had and is continuing to work with me for any more accommodations I might require." ~KU Art Education Student, Class of '25
"I had a really hard time accepting my disabilities and advocating for myself. DSO staff always made time to help me, even if it meant just sitting down and discussing options or how I can best advocate for myself. They are amazing supports. DSO made it possible for me to get my service dog and helped me to make sure I was set up with everything I needed, from housing to my rights. They always made sure to check in on me and my service dog and helped me out immensely with advocating and educating those around me when we first started training him on campus. DSO also helped me find the right assistive technology to help me be able to fully hear and process information in class, which took many stressors out of the daily classroom." ~KU Student with Auditory Processing Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder
"The Disability Services Office (DSO) has been a great resource for getting most, if not all, of my needs accommodated here at Kutztown. The staff is willing to work with you to find reasonable accommodations that can be implemented throughout the university, whether it be academic accommodations or housing accommodations. The DSO has helped me with getting peer notetakers, accessible eBooks, providing a Testing Center where I take most of my tests throughout the academic year, and accessible housing. The DSO staff are also some of the nicest people to work with so go talk to them if you need too." ~KU Special Education Student, Class of '25
