KU Council of Trustees Approve Fall 2023 Graduates at Thursday's December Meeting

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University Council of Trustees approved the candidates for degrees in preparation for KU's 2023 fall commencement to highlight the Council’s December board meeting Thursday afternoon.

Nearly 390 students will be awarded degrees during Kutztown University's fall commencement Saturday, Dec. 16. Dr. Kenneth S. Hawkinson, university president, and Dr. Lorin Basden Arnold, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, will preside. For more information, visit https://www.kutztown.edu/commencement.

In other business, the KU Council of Trustees:

* Approved resolution to recognize Mr. John “Jack” Wabby ’68 for his contributions and service to Kutztown University. The resolution read:

WHEREAS, John “Jack” Wabby ’68 has served faithfully, earnestly, and with distinction throughout his tenure as a member of the Council of Trustees at Kutztown University since 1992; and

WHEREAS, Jack Wabby has served Kutztown University as chairman of the Council of Trustees from 1998-2001 and from 2013-2016; and

WHEREAS, Jack Wabby has served as chair of various committees over the years; and provided exceptional oversight, support, and advice on all issues concerning all areas of the University; and

WHEREAS, Jack Wabby, in 2014-2015, served as chair of the University president’s search committee resulting in a successful transition of leadership at the University; and

WHEREAS, Jack Wabby served as president of the Pennsylvania Council of Trustees (PACT) from 2020-2022 and in other leadership roles in its organization; and

WHEREAS, Jack Wabby is a member of the 1977 Inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame Class, and in 2019 was presented with the first Kutztown University Athletics Legacy Award; and

WHEREAS, Jack Wabby has been a friend of Kutztown University, representing the community, making himself available for consultation, appearing at meetings and other events, a generous donor, and showing resolve in difficult situations;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that John “Jack” Wabby be formally recognized, through this resolution, for his exemplary service to Kutztown University while serving in these many capacities on the Kutztown University Council of Trustees.

RESOLVED, this 14th day of December in the year 2023.

* Approved meeting minutes from Nov. 2, 2023.

* Approved 13 new internship agreements with Ponessa Behavioral Health, John Paul II Center, Berks County District Attorney’s Office, Widoktadwen Center, Muhlenberg School District, Saucon Valley School District, Northern Lehigh School District, Methacton School District, Helping Hands Family Autism Services, Morristown Medical Center, Steel Fitness Premier, Salisbury Township Police Department, and Spring Valley YMCA.

* Approved Affiliation Agreement with Wilson School District.

* Approved Agreement of Academic Cooperation with Chihlee University, Taiwan.

* Approved the candidates for 2023 fall graduation.

* Approved the Audit Report on Financial Statements.

* Approved the Certification of University External Financial Support.

* Approved the 2024-25 auxiliary fees.

The KU Council of Trustees next public board meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024.
