KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University was ranked in Military Times’ 2023 Best for Vets: Colleges rankings for the ninth straight year. Military Times is the largest and most comprehensive ranking of schools for military service members and veterans.

Kutztown University offers many services for veterans, military members and military-affiliated students who are using their veteran parent benefits, including a Military and Veterans Services Office who is celebrating their 10-year anniversary with multiple events and recognitions scheduled during the 2023-2024 academic year. In Fall 2023, KU celebrates and honors its KU military and veteran community and their families with a week of activities, which includes a Celebrating Excellence Luncheon and Veterans Day Military Appreciation football game during our annual Veterans Awareness and Appreciation Week Nov. 6-11.

KU has a single point-of-contact who aids and coordinates services. To make the pursuit of academic goals more manageable, KU offers military education benefits assistance, academic advising, career planning, counseling and Army ROTC. KU awards credit for military training, CLEP and DANTES. Veterans’ liaisons are available in key offices, and faculty and staff participate in sensitivity training for veterans.

KU is one of three Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education institutions ranked in this year’s list.

KU's advisory board meets regularly to implement veteran-friendly policy. Its student veteran organization provides valuable services to students and the community through their programming and fundraisers.

Each year, the Military Times survey is sent to colleges and universities across the nation asking about their programs for veterans. The survey results are then analyzed, along with public data about colleges and universities obtained from the Department of Education and Department of Veterans Affairs and turned into an official ranking. Schools were asked to complete the survey earlier this year and the responses were then analyzed by the Military Times data team, producing the highly anticipated, respected and unbiased annual ranking.
