Duties & Responsibilities:

(Under the Supervision of an Assistant Director)

The Residence Life, Housing, and Dining Special Project Graduate Student is a member of Kutztown University’s Residence Life, Housing, and Dining Services Office. The graduate student assists with various marketing platforms, focuses on content creation, supervises a creative team of undergraduate students, and serves in an on-duty rotation for campus while adhering to the mission and core values of the department.

Under the direction of the professional staff in collaboration with the videographers and graphic designers... 

  • Create and implement multifaceted marketing campaigns for: 
    • Recruitment of all the student staff positions
    • Special Interest Housing
    • The Housing Application & Room Selection
    • Opening & Closing 
    • Large-scale Events
    • Policies
  • Copy editing as needed
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student staff of graphic designers and videographers (manage schedule of team)

Under the supervision of an Assistant Director...

  • Write alt text and captions as needed for social media
  • Create concepts and write scripts for TikToks, YouTube, and/or other video platforms
  • Attend evening events to take pictures and create content
  • Strategize new content creation topics, ideas, and opportunities
  • Examine if new print materials are needed and work toward creating the materials (brochures, etc.)
  • Participate in programming with other graduate students
  • Serve in on-duty rotation and as a case officer
  • Other duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable of social media best practices 
  • Proficient in video editing software (After Effects, Premier Pro, CapCut, etc.)
  • Experience copy editing 
  • Coursework in Professional Writing, Cinema/Media/Television, Communication/Graphic Design, or related fields
  • Completed Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualification:

  • Crisis management experience (The Special Projects grad resides on campus and is available to assume evening and weekend responsibilities. While on duty, the Resident Director may work closely with Public Safety, Police Services, custodial staff and other University departments.)
