General Responsibilities:

The Resident Support Graduate Employee is a graduate student and a member of Kutztown University's Residence Life team. The Resident Support Graduate Employee is supervised by the Assistant Director of Residence Life. The Resident Support Graduate Employee is responsible for assisting resident students experiencing difficulties during their college career and helping these students to effectively navigate these challenges. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

(Under the Supervision of an Assistant Director of Residence Life)

The Resident Support Graduate Employee maintains regularly scheduled hours in their office. The RSGE is responsible for communicating daily with the Assistant Director formally and informally. The RSGE keeps the Assistant Director and the department up to date about issues and concerns, student of concern cases, activities, programs, and social media outreach.

The Resident Support Graduate Employee, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Residence Life, will assist in managing all aspects of student of concern cases and provide informal assistance services, information, guidance, and referrals in areas that interfere with students' academic and personal success.

The Resident Support Graduate Employee is responsible for making outreach and meeting with assigned students and student staff of concern, including initial meetings, and conducting additional follow-up and appropriate referrals when necessary. In addition, the RSGE communicates with Residence Life Staff and appropriate KU staff members as needed for follow up on existing cases and initiation of new cases. 

The Resident Support Graduate Employee will utilize the Maxient conduct software system to assist with creating student of concern cases. In addition, the RSGE will maintain concise and accurate electronic case management records of interactions with students.

The Resident Support Graduate Employee will assist on-campus students to adjust/transition to life at Kutztown University. The RSGE will develop, market, and execute programming on topics which promote personal success and address issues that impact students’ success.

The Resident Support Graduate Employee will create passive programming materials such as newsletters and informational social media postings that provide informal assistance and promote personal success and address issues that impact students' success.

The Resident Support Graduate Employee will develop and maintain relationships with campus resources which provide services that may be of value to KU resident students.

The Resident Support Graduate Employee will assist with assessment activities for the Residence Life Office, Dean of Students/Student Assistance, and case management.

The Resident Support Graduate Employee provides an educational discipline process for residents, which includes timely adjudication of all assigned incident reports as well as efficient management of related correspondence within this area.

The Resident Support Graduate Employee resides on campus and is available to assume evening and weekend responsibilities. The RSGE participates in the GSE on-call duty rotation.  While on duty the RSGE may work closely with Public Safety, Police Services, custodial staff and other University departments.

The Resident Support Graduate Employee participates in all Residence Life and Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs trainings and educational events for the campus community in support of the Division’s overall mission.

The Resident Support Graduate Employee serves as a role model for the Residence Life team and residents. The Residence Support Graduate Employee is accountable to exercise appropriate judgment as it relates to professional behavior and sound decision making at all times.

The Resident Support Graduate Employee performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Residence Life, Housing, and Dining Services and/or their designees. The RSGE pursues continuing professional development through participation in professional associations and University activities and committees as approved by the Assistant Director of Residence Life.
