Kutztown University to Host Hungarian Pianist János Kéry in Guest Artist Recital Sept. 12

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University’s Department of Music welcomes Hungarian pianist János Kéry for a lecture-recital on the Hungarian Rhapsodies of composer/pianist Imre Székely at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12, Schaeffer Auditorium.

Kéry’s musical education in piano and composition studies began in Debrecen, Hungary and then continued in the United States at Boise State University and then Budapest at the Liszt Academy of Music, where he graduated with honors. He then went on to win Eötvös and DAAD scholarships for his postgraduate studies at the University of Music in Saarbrucken, Germany, where he gained two further master’s degrees in 2001 (Konzertreife) and 2015 (Solistenprüfung). Later he was awarded a Doctor of Liberal Arts in May 2015 by the Liszt Academy of Music, where he has been a member of the piano faculty since 2004.
