Schuck Named 2023 Employee of the Year

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Congratulations to Nancy Schuck, custodial worker, Facilities, on being named the 2023 Kutztown University Employee of the Year.

Schuck was named the Employee of the Year during KU's Faculty and Staff Convocation and Celebration held Friday, Aug. 25. Schuck, Employee of the Month for November 2022, was 1-of-12 finalists for the annual award.

Students Matthew Coleman and Heather Staab, and graduate student and resident director Athalie Fogal, nominated Schuck for Employee of the Month. Their nomination can be found below.

Schuck has been with the university since 2007.

As Employee of the Year, Schuck received a $300 monetary award sponsored by President Kenneth S. Hawkinson, an engraved glass award and reserved parking for one year in their preferred parking spot.

Schuck is the seventh KU Employee of the Year honoree, following Sharon Young from Information Technology in 2017, Tim Flannery from Intercollegiate Athletics in 2018, Marsha Cressman from Facilities in 2019, William Lendzinski from Clinical Services in 2020, Louis Richuitti from Facilities in 2021, and Veronique Vlaun from the Honors Program in 2022.

“Nancy works tirelessly to maintain Bonner Hall, one of the largest traditional residence halls on campus. Every day she comes into the building with a smile on her face and she interacts with staff and residents alike with kindness and good humor. We have had some major predicaments in Bonner Hall this year, but Nancy has never complained and instead works with me to seek out solutions to the problems. She is incredibly passionate about this hall after working here for 17 years and she loves the residents and staff that spend their time here.

Without Nancy's hard work and dedication, Bonner Hall would be unrecognizable. She is truly the backbone of the building and serves as a positive presence with staff, residents and even parents.”
