First Year Experience Program to Host Inaugural Conference March 23

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University’s First Year Experience (FYE) program will host its inaugural FYE conference for students, faculty and staff 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, March 23, McFarland Student Union. This in-person event is free and open to any member of the KU community.

FYE collaborates with a range of groups, including faculty, administration, student support offices and families, to create a welcoming and inclusive educational setting. During the conference, there will be student-led discussions examining the experiences of first-year students in different first-year seminar courses. Additionally, there will be concurrent sessions covering various topics, such as research techniques, retention strategies, cultural responsiveness, effective student habits, familiarity with university services and resources and student transfer support, among others. These sessions aim to meet the unique and diverse of students, faculty and staff as it pertains to the first-year experience.

Dr. Lorin Basden Arnold, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, will deliver welcoming remarks, and Anthony D’Angelo of Collegiate Empowerment will be the keynote speaker.
