Kutztown University to Host Series of Events in Celebration of Women’s History Month 2023

Yellow flowers on campus.

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University will host a series of events to celebrate Women’s History Month in March. KU’s “Know Your Body Series” will include a variety of programs and events to honor the contributions and achievements women have made in many different fields.

The KU Women's Center has lined up a series of events that allow students the opportunity to learn more about the importance of this month and shed light on issues today regarding women. The Women's Center collaborates with the Multicultural Center, Health and Wellness Center, Kutztown University Activities Board (KUAB), Residence Life and the Commission on the Status of Women in hosting regular semester events, some of which include keynote speakers. They also provide printed materials and resources by doing tabling on campus throughout the academic year, including tabling at new student orientation events.

This year’s Women’s History Month keynote speaker is Gabby Rivera, an accomplished writer, speaker and advocate. Rivera is dedicated to empowering people and improving marginalized communities across the nation. She has made major waves for her Marvel series starring America Chaves, a queer, Latinx superhero who has been written and designed by a queer Latinx. Rivera is also author to a popular and award-winning book, “Juliet Takes a Breath”, and will be hosting a book-signing following her event. She will be speaking on her experience as a Queer Latina author, including her struggles and triumphs, as well as the “importance of prioritizing joy in QTPOC communities,” 6 p.m., Thursday, March 30, 218 MSU. This event is sponsored by the Dr. Constance P. Dent and Dr. Ann T. Gundry Distinguished Speaker Series in collaboration with the Kutztown University Women’s Center and the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program.
