Lights on trees

DMZ Tree Lighting

The campus community is encouraged to attend a tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, DMZ. Join President Hawkinson, students and many others when the trees around the Fountain of Knowledge on the DMZ are lit to welcome light to the winter season. Students can take a finals study break and enjoy complimentary hot chocolate from the Student Government Association, share good company and plan to take memorable pictures with friends at this beautiful spectacle.

When ordering for your department, please do not put "Kutztown University" or a P.O. Box number in the mailing address. If you address mail or packages incorrectly, they could be returned to the sender. You will receive everything faster if you include your full name, department name and room number. If you oversee ordering for a person in a different department, please make sure to put that person’s full name, department name and room number. If you are looking for a package, please send the tracking number to mailservices@kutztown.edu.

Meet Our New Chaplain

Please join the Newman Council 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, St. Christopher Catholic Newman Center, 15207 Kutztown Rd (across the street from Old Main), as we welcome our new Chaplain, Father Matthew Kuna. Father Kuna is a 2016 graduate of Kutztown University and the Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Faculty Recital ''Water Music'' by Dr. Andy Thierauf

Dr. Andy Thierauf, Department of Music, will perform works for solo percussion, including Jacob Druckman's Reflections on the Nature of Water, newly commissioned Postcard Pieces by Philadelphia composers and his own electroacoustic work at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, Wells-Rapp Center for Mallet Percussion Research. The compositions incorporate traditional instruments, found objects, dripping water and live electronics to create a vast, textural landscape evoking the imagery and essence of water. The event is free to attend and open to the public.

Armed Forces Tree of Recognition

The Office of Military and Veterans Services has a Tree of Recognition on display in the MSU near Starbucks. As we get closer to holiday break, we'd love to continue to add names of our KU community and their loved ones who have served in the military (past or present). Visit the Office of Military and Veterans Services, 262 MSU, to create a dedication. You can also submit information via email at veterans@kutztown.edu for our team to create one for you. Please submit the name of your loved ones, military affiliation and/or a short message to add to the tree by Friday, Dec. 6. Our team will add names to the Tree of Recognition as we receive them.

Counseling Center Hours during Finals Week

The KU Counseling Center will be open during finals week 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. No appointments are needed. Students are invited to walk in for a consultation with a counselor during these hours throughout the week.

Join Us for Software Engineering Capstone Demo Day

The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology is proud to announce the fall Senior Seminar Software Engineering Capstone Products Demo Day Friday, Dec. 6. Join us live and in person in 218 MSU. Presentations and demos are 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; poster sessions and individual demos are 1-3 p.m. Students have worked for two semesters on their projects, including custom-built hardware devices, web and mobile apps and a PC game. Plan on attending all or part of the day. Thank you for your support of our students.
