KU Field Hockey Receives Second Straight NFHCA Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year

For the second season in-a-row, the Golden Bear field hockey coaching staff was awarded the National Field Hockey Coaches Association DII Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year award. The KU staff includes 11th-year head coach Marci Scheuing and assistant coaches Amber Auchenbach, Arianna Grays and Breann Craley. The Golden Bears are co-winners with the Shippensburg staff. Kutztown completed another historic season, finishing as the national runner-up, falling in an overtime thriller to Saint Anselm in the NCAA DII championship game Sunday, Nov. 24, at Limestone University. It was the second straight season that the Maroon and Gold reached the championship game, winning the title in 2023.

Travel Reimbursements Taxable if Submitted More Than 60 Days After Travel

Please be advised that travel reimbursement requests submitted more than 60 days after the travel expenses were incurred will be considered as taxable compensation. This will take effect for any travel starting on or after Jan. 1, 2025. According to IRS guidelines, employees must account for their business travel within a reasonable period, defined as 60 days after the expense is incurred. Therefore, employees are encouraged to submit their travel reimbursement requests promptly upon returning from their trip.

Meal Train for Chief David Drezek

Chief David Drezek, Public Safety and Police Services, experienced a medical emergency Tuesday, Dec. 3, and will be at home recovering over the next few weeks. We want to express our support for him and help by providing meals so he can focus on his rest and recovery. If you would like to contribute to the Meal Train for Chief Drezek, please sign up online. Lt. Justin Soumas will serve as acting chief while Chief Drezek is on leave. Soumas can be reached at soumas@kutztown.edu.

Addressing Mail and Packages for your Department

When ordering for your department, please do not put "Kutztown University" or a P.O. Box number in the mailing address. If you address mail or packages incorrectly, they could be returned to the sender. You will receive everything faster if you include your full name, department name and room number. If you oversee ordering for a person in a different department, please make sure to put that person’s full name, department name and room number. If you are looking for a package, please send the tracking number to mailservices@kutztown.edu.

January Assessment Day

We invite faculty to join us 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, 250 McFarland Student Union Building for January Assessment Day. Volunteers will go through a norming session together before lunch. Pairs will then break off to assess and rate student work products from Spring 2024 in SLO 6 categories B and D. Volunteers should plan to attend the entire day; the norming process is required to participate in the rating sessions. Please plan to bring a laptop. Please feel free to share this information with your colleagues and encourage them to attend. A reminder will be sent a week prior to the event. To register, please visit the link below. CEL Professional Learning Opportunity for Faculty

The Center for Engaged Learning (CEL) invites faculty to apply for a professional development opportunity focusing on Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The goal is to provide KU faculty with the skills and knowledge that help facilitate the institutionalization of equity, inclusion and diversity at KU through applying the principles of UDL. Sabbatical Applications Collection Schedule 2025

The Sabbatical Leave Committee will be available during the following times slots in 130 Lytle to collect sabbatical applications for Fall 2026-Spring 2027.
- 11 a.m. to noon, and 2:30-3:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30.
- 11 a.m. to noon, and 1-2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 31.
- 9 a.m. to noon, Monday, Feb. 3.
Please bring one original copy and seven back-to-back photocopies of your application for the sabbatical committee to review. Each application should include the following items:
- signed verification of eligibility form from the Provost's office (signatures of the applicant and the provost's representative are required);
- signed application form (signatures of the dean, the department chair, and the applicant are required);
- written sabbatical proposal;
- updated C.V.;
