College of Education Hosts Innovation in Education Summit

Kutztown University’s College of Education has embarked on a new vision for education’s role in higher education. Through initiatives such as micro-internships, regional partnerships, professional development and dual enrollment programs, Kutztown University spotlighted its advance in education at its Innovation in Education Summit, Wednesday, July 17, McFarland Student Union. The college, led by Dr. Rebecca West Burns, dean, hosted representatives from regional school districts, as well as educational services and community organizations from Berks, Lehigh, Montgomery and Dauphin Counties. The event focused on building innovative partnerships and was co-sponsored by the College of Education, Career Development Center and KU’s Title III Grant.

Field Hockey Honored at The White House

The Golden Bear field hockey team was honored Monday, July 22, alongside fellow NCAA National Champions at The White House, Washington, D.C. The team toured The White House, student-athlete Breann Craley was featured on stage as Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris provided remarks.

Successful Dissertation Defense

Congratulations to Brandy Leininger, Title III Grant Project Manager, who successfully defended her dissertation Tuesday, July 9, on the success and retention of Latinx students at four-year private institutions. Leininger will receive her EdD from Immaculata University. Well done, Dr. Leininger!

New Employee Orientation Program to Launch August 8

This fall, the Offices of Human Resources and Social Equity are launching a New Employee Orientation program for non-instructional employees. The orientation will cover payroll and benefits, social equity policies, DEI, information technology, disability services and more. The first New Employee Orientation will be held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 322 MSU. All non-instructional employees hired in June and July will be required to attend. Non-instructional employees hired in April or May will be permitted to attend, if interested. Moving forward, New Employee Orientation will be offered monthly. If you have any questions about New Employee Orientation, please contact the Office of Social Equity at socialequity@kutztown.edu.

Women's Volleyball nets AVCA Team Academic Award

For the second year in-a-row and fifth time in program history, the Kutztown University women's volleyball team earned the 2024 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, an award that recognizes classroom excellence during the 2023-24 academic year. In order to earn the AVCA Team Academic Award, teams are required to maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
