Cold Weather Reminder

Last winter, your diligent efforts to keep windows and exterior doors closed when temperatures dipped below freezing helped prevent water damage due to freezing fire sprinkler and domestic water pipes. Your efforts also helped conserve energy used for heating. Please keep all windows and exterior doors closed during freezing weather. It's especially important to survey your area and close windows prior to leaving for weekends or holidays, since a burst pipe resulting from an open window or door may go unnoticed and lead to considerable damage. Report open windows and open exterior doors to the facilities Work Control Center. Let's repeat last year's excellent work.

Kutztown University's Impact at the Student Voices Symposium

We are thrilled to share that Kutztown University had the honor of participating in the Student Voices Symposium: Foster Care to College at the University of Pennsylvania, Wednesday, Dec. 4. The event, hosted by Penn's Field Center for Children’s Policy, Practice and Research, highlighted the experiences of students in foster care transitioning to higher education. Kutztown University was proudly nominated by the Field Center to invite students to serve as panelists at this important event. Two remarkable students from the Providing Resources and Opportunities for Future Standouts (PROFS) program shared their personal stories of resilience, navigating the challenges of transitioning from foster care to higher education and adjusting to college life. Their inspiring contributions highlighted the strength and determination of PROFS students, while showcasing the supportive environment provided by our university. Other participants included students from the Community College of Philadelphia and Penn State University’s Foster Lions Program, fostering a rich and meaningful exchange of perspectives among peers from across the region. This opportunity underscores the importance of programs like PROFS in empowering students from foster care backgrounds and affirms Kutztown University's commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive campus for all. Please join us in congratulating our PROFS students for their outstanding representation of Kutztown University.

Recommend Students for Honors Program

KU's Honors Program seeks help identifying promising students to join Honors. The program supports students who seek to make the most of their education through high-impact curricular and co-curricular programming dedicated to leadership, involvement, intellectual curiosity, experiential learning and originality. We represent and support students in every major on campus. Honors students show higher retention and graduation rates, even when compared to other high-achieving populations, and they flourish as campus leaders. Growing our program is good for the students, good for programs and good for the whole campus community. Many students who maybe wouldn’t have started out in Honors find themselves thriving in college. Nobody is better positioned than you to help these students recognize their own terrific potential. We are looking for untapped promise as much as anything else. We are very happy to consider any interested student; however, those in their first couple semesters are far more likely to be able to complete Honors requirements before graduation. The application form is easy and online. We hope you’ll share it with students and email us a very brief recommendation to . We will follow up and help them complete the application.
