New Exhibition at Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center Celebrates Barn Star Painter Milton J. Hill

Just in time for the Kutztown Folk Festival, a new exhibition celebrating the life and work of Berks County barn star artist Milton J. Hill opens Friday, June 30, and runs through Saturday, Sept. 30, in the gallery at the DeLight E. Breidegam Building, Headquarters of the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center at Kutztown University. Through original works of art, cultural artifacts and ephemera, discover how this innovative, third-generation barn painter from Virginville, Berks County, preserved and transformed traditional barn decoration among the Pennsylvania Dutch.

KUPD Recruits Begin Allentown Police Academy

We would like to welcome police recruits Jerel Foster and Kyle Latimer to the Kutztown University community. Recruit Foster holds an Associate in Criminal Justice from Lehigh Carbon Community College. Recruit Latimer holds an Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Public Administration both from Kutztown University. Recruits Foster and Latimer will be beginning the 112th Allentown Police Academy in July. The campus community and the department wish you the best.

Slightly less humid-feeling and slightly less warm, both compared to yesterday. High temperature around 78. Rainfall could accumulate around a half inch with localized higher amounts.

Power Outage

There is a scheduled power outage 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday July 1 to replace the transformer at Deatrick Hall. All buildings that will be without power are:
- Deatrick Hall
- Beck Hall
- Stratton Administration Building (NEW Section)
Those impacted by the outage should save and power down their computers prior to Saturday morning.

Lunch at the Folk Festival

KU faculty and staff are invited to have lunch at the festival, July 1-9. You will receive free entry to the festival with your KU ID or business card weekdays 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The festival offers a variety of Pennsylvania Dutch foods, homemade soups and sandwiches plus festival favorites including sausage, potpie, corn fritters, funnel cake, shoo-fly pie and apple dumplings.
