Announcements

Ramadan Begins Monday, March 11

Ramadan begins Monday, March 11, and will end Tuesday, April 9. Eid al-Fitr 2024 is expected to be celebrated Wednesday, April 10. Millions of Muslims across the world observe fast (no food, no water) from dawn till dusk (approximately 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.) during the whole month of Ramadan, as this is the most sacred month for the whole Muslim Ummah. This often also includes prayers into the night. It is not unusual to be up past midnight in prayer and then wake up at 3:30-4 a.m. to eat before dawn and pray. Our KU Muslim community (students, staff and faculty) may be tired, hungry and dehydrated - especially with any late afternoon or early evening classes, campus jobs, sports practices or other activities. Please be understanding and accommodating. Thank you.
