Lifetime Achievement Award for Social Work Faculty Member

The Department of Social Work is proud to announce that our faculty member, Professor William Bender, was chosen for the National Association of Social Workers - Pennsylvania Chapter, 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award. This recognition was given for repeated demonstration of outstanding achievements related to social work practices and core professional values, as well as more than 50 years of work that contributed lasting positive impact on multiple geographic areas of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including Greater Reading and Berks County. Community development, organizational leadership, civic engagement, direct practice in child welfare, mental health, gerontology, healthcare and LGBTQ communities are some of the many practice areas related to this lifetime achievement. The award was presented at the 2023 statewide conference held Monday, Oct. 23, in the Poconos, by NASW-PA.

Veterans Awareness Week

Kutztown University celebrates National Veterans Awareness Week, November 6-12, to recognize, celebrate and honor our military and veteran community and their families. Join Military and Veterans Services, Student Veterans Association and Army R.O.T.C. Steel Battalion for a weeklong celebration of the contributions and sacrifices of our military members and veterans. All events are free however, some require registration. KU Middle States Accreditation Town Hall - Institutional Priorities

The Kutztown University Middle States Steering Committee seeks feedback from KU faculty, staff and students on institutional priorities. Please join us 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, Alumni Auditorium, McFarland Student Union for the Middle States Accreditation Town Hall to learn more about Kutztown University’s accreditation and give your feedback on institutional priorities. For those who cannot attend, a survey will be distributed after the event.

Fall 2023 Late-Start Courses Attendance Verification Process

The initial attendance verification for late start courses, which is required federally for awarding of financial aid, is available in Starfish through Tuesday, Nov. 7. Faculty should indicate whether students have attended or have never attended by utilizing one of two flags. Please be sure to verify the attendance status of every student. Army Tuition Assistance Clinic

Please share this information with your students. Military and Veterans Services will hold an Army Tuition Assistance Clinic 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, IT training room, 200 Stratton Administration Center. Please have your Army student veterans drop in during these clinic hours and we will help them create their Army Ignited (AI) account. Students need to have an approved AI account and resolve any holds prior to the window to apply for tuition assistance, Friday, Nov. 24.

Women's Soccer to Host PSAC Quarterfinal Monday Night

The Kutztown University women's soccer team will play Bloomsburg University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) quarterfinal game 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, Keystone Field. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students (K-12). Students from PSAC institutions are free with a valid student ID. Children who have not yet reached kindergarten (Pre-K) are also free. PSAC passes will be accepted. Tickets can be purchased online by clicking here.
