Daily Brief
Sept. 11, 2024
Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance
Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance is observed Sept. 11 in honor of the individuals who lost their lives as a result of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Flags are flown at half-mast. Americans are to observe with a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. Learn more about KU's observance in the Sept. 10 Daily Brief.
Today, we remember the victims, families and survivors dealing with loss. Join us 10:15-10:30 a.m., Alumni Plaza, to remember and reflect. Flags on display at Alumni Plaza represent the lives lost at each crash site: World Trade Center (2,753: each flag represents five lives), Pentagon (184) and Somerset County, Pa. (40). Carnations will be available for those who would like to place a flower on site to honor their loved ones. There is no formal program. Event Sponsors: Dean of Students, Student Involvement, Student Veterans Association, Steel Battalion Army ROTC, Kutztown Men's Volleyball Club.
