Graduate Fulfills Promise, Earns Degree After 45-Year Journey

One of KU’s graduates this past Saturday completed a lifelong mission, earning his KU degree after 45 years. Pat Pollock ’24 enrolled at Kutztown State College in 1979. After three years, Pollock left KU and went on to earn multiple degrees from other institutions. A native of Dover, Del., he went on to have a successful career as a Citizen Soldier in the Delaware Air National Guard. When Pollock left KU, he promised his mother he would one day finish his degree from KU. Determined to fulfill that promise, Pollock returned to KU this fall and earned a Bachelor of Science in general studies/professional studies. Pollock credits the efforts of Dr. Steve Lem and Dr. Brian Kronenthal, among others, for their assistance in helping him accomplish his goal.

Faculty and Student Painting Exhibition

The Fine Arts Painting Program is exhibiting faculty and student artwork to honor the retirement of professor Mark Mahosky. Through two decades of Mahosky's leadership, the painting program has grown to be among the largest disciplines in the Department of Art and Design. Over the years, it has fostered the creative ambitions of hundreds of young painters and has placed undergraduate students into some of the most prestigious MFA programs in the country. Please visit Sharadin's Atrium Gallery and College Ave. Gallery through Feb. 1, 2025, to see the artwork of two of our painting faculty: Mahosky and associate professor Michael Covello. In addition, an amazing collection of paintings from 30 of their current advanced painting students is on display, representing the wide variety of styles, material considerations and conceptual thinking the painting area has become known for. Exhibiting artists include: Kat Baez, Brooke Bartlow, Anna Bechtel, Nina Bowling, Michael Covello, Bridget Danish, Patty Defelice, Haley Farmer, Samuel Fatzinger, Elizabeth Frost, Ashley Fry, Graham Gernerd, Joy Gonzalez, Campbell Graney, Emily Hall, Paige Heikkila, Becca Hohl, Jordan Hoffman, Torylin Houtz, Aubrey Kirkland, Julia Knecht, Zak Kutz, Mark Mahosky, Jacqueline Olsen, Maddy O'Reilly, Lindsay Ott, Lu Penrose, Jessica Rios, Emily Schaeffer, Jasmine Thompson, Jayson Vanderpool and Hailey Wiegand.

Out! @ KU

The Out! @ KU list was designed to bring attention and recognition to staff and faculty of Kutztown University who are "out" regarding their LGBTQ+ identity. In order to foster and sustain an environment of inclusivity and positivity on Kutztown's campus, it's important to highlight the ways in which our staff and faculty members are diverse. The Out! @ KU list also gives students a chance to reach out to LGBTQ+ identified staff and faculty on campus to discuss topics or issues around gender identity and sexual identity here at Kutztown University. If you would like to be included on this list, please fill out this form.
