Native and Indigenous Showcase Nov. 12
Join us noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 218 MSU, for our Native and Indigenous Showcase. There will be guest speakers, food, art, culture, opportunities to learn, films and much more. The Native and Indigenous Showcase is celebrated to recognize the history, culture and contributions of Indigenous peoples, as well as the challenges they continue to face. Our goal is to honor, revere and respect those who paved the way for us. We use both the words Native and Indigenous, since they have slightly different meanings but are commonly seen as exchangeable. The word Native is used to describe a group of people who occupied their land. One example of this is the Lenape tribe, who inhabited lands in the Delaware valley. The word Indigenous is more global and inclusive and is used to describe people who are descendants of the people who inhabited America, the Pacific and parts of Asia and Africa prior to European colonization.

Faculty First Thursday Presentation
Through the collaborative lens of the "Marks and Stitches" exhibition, Jayne Struble and Liz Hamilton Quay intertwine the realms of drawing, projection, soft sculpture and material exploration at the Faculty First Thursday Presentation 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 120 Sharadin. Refreshments will be served at 10:30 a.m. Hear about how they organically discovered and made connections in their work during the isolation of the pandemic and how it grew into a full exhibition. Their work is an exploration of the invisible ties that bind us, highlighting the beauty of interconnectedness and the delicate balance of patterns in nature and the complexities of human anatomy. "Marks and Stitches" began from a place of isolation and developed into a cohesive and experimental body of work.
