Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger

An upper-level trough keeps slightly unsettled weather over the area, but we should still see some partial sun. An isolated shower can't be ruled out, however. High around 62.

"It's On Us" Week of Action

It's On Us Week of Action runs Oct. 16-20. Please find the full schedule on Engage. This week is filled with educational and interactive events focused on providing students with information on healthy relationships, warning signs of dating violence, interpersonal violence and sexual assault awareness. Some of the events are more focused on supporting survivors, like the Tuesday's “Take Back the Night”. All events are open to the KU community.
New this semester for faculty to encourage students to attend is "Dinner and Documentary" showing “Audrie and Daisy” 4:30-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 223 McFarland Student Union. This is the only event this week that we are asking for an RSVP since dinner is included: https://engage.kutztown.edu/event/9466858.

Escalation Workshop

An "Escalation Workshop" is being held 3-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 183 McFarland Student Union. This 40-minute film, followed by discussion questions, brings light to the signs of unhealthy dating and red flags of relationship abuse. It is based on a true story of a student, Yeardley Love, from University of Virginia (UVA) who was tragically killed. Her family started the One Love Foundation https://www.joinonelove.org/. When Yeardley Love died, she was three weeks shy of graduating from the UVA. She was her mother’s pride and joy, her sister’s best friend and the heart and soul of the UVA lacrosse team. Her many friends say that to know her was to love her. Ironically, her life was ended by someone who claimed he did. This session is part of the "It's On Us Week of Action" and is open to the campus community, but we are hoping to target faculty and staff in particular, so they can be a resource for their families and students.

Starfish for Faculty Office Hours and Advising Appointments

Starfish appointment scheduling for faculty office hours and advising appointments offers the following benefits and functionality:
- Starfish syncs with your Outlook calendar, lessens the chance of double booking appointments and simplifies the process for students to schedule using a direct link. Documenting outcomes is simple with speed notes or custom notes with the option to send a copy to the student. Students can also be sent a message for missed appointments.
- With the advisement period quickly approaching, the timing is ideal to set up your calendar in Starfish. The basic setup takes only a few minutes to share your Outlook calendar, set up your office hours, and send your link to your advisees.
The Starfish D2L has screenshots and directions, or if you prefer assistance, we are available to help. You can sign up for a time using this link: Starfish Faculty/Staff Training - Fall 2023 or request a time if none of the times available work with your schedule. Email starfish@kutztown.edu or call 610-683-4217 for additional assistance.
